Yogic Management of Asthma & Allergies

YWS-Nov22- Yogic Management of Asthma and Allergies.pdf

The physical condition of asthma has many underlying causes. At the physiological level, the condition is characterized by recurrent attacks of spasms in the tubes of the lungs resulting in difficulty in breathing, excessive mucus and a suffocating feeling. The condition often worsens during seasonal pollination and in areas that are prone to allergies(such as Bangalore). However, the root cause almost always lies in the deeper mind, which in turn creates chronic emotional and pranic blocks and manifests in the body as disease.

The yogic management of ashtma involves working at all these levels by following yoga as a lifestyle. Specific practices of shatkarma, asana and pranayama directly strengthen and free up the organs and body parts involved while other practices such as mantra chanting, mudra, pratyahara and yoga nidra work on the mind and emotions. Incorporating little-little yogic habits throughout the day completes the picture. With all this, the deeper mind is cleansed, the body-mind-emotions balance is restored, and thus the disease is unarmed.

In this five-day Yoga Wellness program, we will learn practices that help cope better with the symptoms as well as causes of asthma, including allergies, and also discover how to introduce small changes in lifestyle towards a more aware and yogic way of being.
