YOGA FOR A HEALTHY HEART

DATES: 19th–23th December 2022

TIME: 4:00–5:30 PM IST (offline+online)

The heart is one of the most important vital organs of the human body. It beats 100,000 times each day, pumping almost 10 tonnes of blood through 60,000 miles of blood vessels. The enormity of this task also means that it must be protected and cared for well. Unfortunately, heart disease has emerged as one of the biggest killers in present times. Various factors, such as sedentary lifestyles and lack of exercise, unhealthy food and sleep habits, anxiety, unresolved stress and fear, and other emotional disturbances are prime causes, apart from genetic factors. Research has proven the efficacy of yoga as preventive care for heart conditions. Indeed, practising yoga for half-hour to 45 minutes a day will enable the heart and circulatory system to work efficiently at the physical level and release the built-up tensions at the mental-emotional levels. Yoga practices that specifically alleviate coronary diseases include yoga nidra, asana, pranayama, mudra meditation, mantra chanting, etc. The right combination of the above helps in maintaining good health of the heart and the circulatory system. In this 5-day course we will focus on these practices and also develop an understanding of yogic management of various cardiovascular conditions.
